Step 1 of 3

Find your laptop’s exact model

The simulation shows Windows in English, like most laptops.

  2. Open the maker’s official support site

Search for the brand name + “support drivers”, open the brand’s own site, then enter the model or serial number.

Don’t download from “free driver” sites or driver updater apps.
  3. Choose Windows 11 64-bit, download, run it

Double-click the downloaded file, follow the steps, then restart.

Technical details (for the curious)

Why the laptop maker’s site

Laptops often use customised drivers (sound, touchpad, function keys, power management) tuned by the maker. A generic driver from the chip maker may work, but features like the brightness keys or the microphone can go missing.

Install order after reinstalling Windows

1. Chipset (and Intel Management Engine / AMD chipset), 2. Graphics, 3. WiFi/LAN, 4. Audio, 5. Touchpad, Bluetooth, camera, card reader. Restart after chipset and graphics.

Pick the matching version

Check Settings › System › About › System type: almost every laptop says “64-bit, x64-based”. Laptops with a Snapdragon processor use ARM64; don’t use x64 drivers on them.

The maker’s own apps

Built-in brand apps such as Lenovo Vantage, MyASUS, HP Support Assistant or Dell SupportAssist are safe for finding the right drivers. Third-party driver updater apps are not.

Drivers that come as a folder (.inf files)

If you get a folder with .inf files instead of an installer: in Device Manager choose Update driver › Browse my computer for drivers and point it to that folder.
