Technical details (for the curious)
How the phone finds the printer
Android uses its built-in print service (Default Print Service / Mopria), which looks for printers on the same WiFi. The printer must already be connected to WiFi.
Printer doesn’t appear
Make sure the phone isn’t on mobile data or a guest WiFi. Turn the printer off and on, or install the printer maker’s official app from the Play Store.
USB-only printers
A printer with only a USB cable can’t be used directly from a phone. Send the file to a laptop, or use a printer with WiFi.
