Fan the paper, then put it in
Short edge first, with the printing side facing you. Don’t go above the ▼ line.
Slide the edge guide against the paper
The guide should touch the paper without bending it. The printer is ready.
- Don’t use damp, folded or creased paper. That is the main cause of paper jams.

Technical details (for the curious)
Why fan the paper
New sheets often stick together from static or the cut edges. Fanning separates them so the printer doesn’t pull two sheets at once.
How much paper
A typical ink-tank printer takes about 100 sheets of plain 70–80 g paper. For photo paper load only 10–20 sheets and choose the paper type in the print settings.
Which side is printed
On printers that feed from the back, the side facing you is printed. On printers with a front drawer, the printing side faces down. On photo paper the glossy side is the printing side.
