Why a wrong clock breaks websites
https sites use certificates with valid dates. If the laptop’s clock is far off, the browser thinks the certificate expired and blocks the site (“Your clock is behind”).
Clock always wrong after turning off
The small (CMOS) battery on the motherboard that keeps time while the laptop is off may be empty. A shop can replace it cheaply.
